Our signature line.
River is a floating WF line for trout fishing with dry flies and light nymphs. It combines our own taper with a low stretch braided nylon core, Arven Glide slickness additive, a floating tip and welded loops at both ends.

CAD Taper
A compound head with two body sections and a gradual transition between them.
River
From the shape of the taper to the finish of the coating.
A custom taper designed in CAD and analysed with our casting simulator to study how the line unrolls.
River has a compound head with two body sections joined by a gradual transition. The taper determines where the line’s mass sits along the head. We study that distribution with our casting simulator.
How we study our tapersWelded loops at both ends for connecting your leader and backing.
The front loop connects to a looped leader. The rear loop connects to the backing. These connections let you replace a leader or disconnect the line without cutting its ends.
A slickness additive built into the coating to help the line move smoothly through the guides.
The additive is mixed into the coating during manufacture. Its job is to reduce friction as the line passes through the rod guides. Routine cleaning removes surface dirt that can interfere with that glide.
How to clean a fly lineThe outer coating of River, with Arven Glide incorporated into its formulation.
The coating surrounds the braided core and forms the line’s outer profile, from the head to the running line. Arven Glide is the slickness additive incorporated into that coating.
How to clean a fly lineA floating tip that makes the drift easier to follow and helps lift the line from the water for the next cast.
The tip is the front end of the fly line, where the leader attaches. Keeping this section clean helps it stay on the surface, making it easier to follow the line and lift it from the water.
How to clean a fly lineA low stretch core made from braided nylon.
The braided core forms the inner structure of the line and carries tension underneath the coating. Its low stretch construction limits how much the line lengthens under load.

OUR APPROACH
A fly line earns its place on your reel by performing well on the water, standing up to regular use and offering good value. Those priorities guide how we develop our tapers and choose the materials and finishes for each model.
We’re a small, independent brand, and we want lines that feel natural to fish with. That’s why we design them around the fishing we do and work with a team of casting experts who test the prototypes and help us improve them.
INSIDE ARVEN
We design our lines with our own software, simulating how they behave and refining each taper before production.
